About

My name is Annie Fain Liden-Barralon (Annie Fain is my first name) and I have three major loves in life: ART, MUSIC, and DANCE.

I grew up on a small sheep farm in Murphy, North Carolina near the John C. Campbell Folk School, a traditional craft and music school. My family was heavily involved in the creative community surrounding the Folk School.  This added bonus to my rural North Carolina upbringing has pointed me in the direction of making my living through music and craft from an early age.  There is nothing so powerful as seeing examples of self employed success around you, in helping you make the decision to take the same leap for yourself someday.

Some of you know me mostly as a bookmaker and banjo player. This is all still true (once a bookmaker/banjo player always a bookmaker/banjo player eh?).  However, my life took a lovely turn almost two years ago thanks to a series of events involving a long-trip to France and a handsome frenchmen (even clichés come true!).

As a result, (I’ll tell you the whole story over a nice cup of tea)  I found myself moving from the mountains of Western North Carolina to be with my now-husband in the mountains of Ardéche.  Of course, I was forced to downsize (no more heavy book presses and large paper cutters) and choose a more portable outlet for my artistic energies.  Since I have been painting and drawing, secretly, for some time I saw this change as the perfect excuse for me to take my 2-demensional work more seriously.  It has been great fun “coming out” and taking this particular love to a new level as a line of limited edition prints and blank greeting cards.

So, here I am; living in a stone house in the Vallée du Rhône, playing tunes on various instruments with my sweetheart, facing the challenges of learning French and living in a foreign land, managing my etsy shop and painting away…

Feel free to come by any time for that cup of tea!
